Installing on MacOS Nov. 2, 2024, 10:03 p.m.

Thanks for your reply! I've been pretty worried about messing up my license.

I'll give an update when I'm able to try it out.

Installing on MacOS Nov. 2, 2024, 7:46 p.m.

Hello everyone!

Soon I will be using a macbook while I'm away from my main computer, but there is one question that I can't find the answer too. I emailed SideFX support but was told that they don't know the answer.

I would like to have the ability to switch between the intel build of Houdini (for compatibility with plugins), and the native apple Silicon build for the performance.

Once I have the apple silicon build installed and running, can I just install the intel build of Houdini through Rosetta? Or will that cause licensing problems?

Thanks for your help!

Questions about Digital Assets (To Maya) Jan. 31, 2017, 11:34 p.m.

I was able to figure out why it was crashing, It seemed like it was because of the way objects were being referenced in the DOP network.

I was able to import the assets in without crashing, but I did encounter another problem. Whenever I batch render with Mental Ray or Renderman (although it works with the Maya software renderer), the houdini-related objects don't update with the frames. In the viewport and in playblasts everything looks fine. During a batch render the asset just looks like a completely static mesh throughout the entire length of the render.

EDIT: I added an example I have to the post, Just a simple box with dynamics. It looks fine in the viewport and in Maya software, but it doesn't update when I batch render it out. I'm hoping someone would be able to help me find any beginner's mistakes I made. Hoping it will be something simple…

Thanks to anyone who can help me!
