HDA has problems using SplineComponent input in UE5Preview? March 30, 2022, 1:42 p.m.
Hello, hope this message finds you well!
Are you able to reproduce this consistently?
If so, please provide more detailed instructions to us for use in diagnosing the issue further.
In an attempt to quickly reproduce this issue based on your description, we've made a simple HDA that instances objects along an input curve geo.
Also, we noted your use of 19.0.531 and wanted to mention that there are new production builds available as well, in case you'd like to try to reproduce this using latest:

In an attempt to quickly reproduce this issue based on your description, we've made a simple HDA that instances objects along an input curve geo.
- In UE5, we created an Actor Blueprint with a child Spline, instanced that into our level alongside the test HDA and then sketched a few control points into the spline.
- On the HDA, we set the input type to World Outliner Input, then used the selector tool to pick the BP containing the SplineComponent and the HDA works and cooks just fine.
Also, we noted your use of 19.0.531 and wanted to mention that there are new production builds available as well, in case you'd like to try to reproduce this using latest:
- Houdini 19 (19.0.561)
- Houdini Engine for Unreal -- Version 2.0.9 - Houdini 19.0.561 [github.com]

It really was great fun and I've learned a great deal by being a part of this.

eta: inspired by others, here's a video version of the contact sheet and a few more thoughts
In addition to the main Mardini rules, I too imposed a few constraints on my daily projects to help guide my own personal growth and to better leverage existing strengths each day. This was perhaps the most frustrating and also rewarding aspect to my personal journey this month.
-- square aspect ratio 2048x2048 @ 24fps
-- rendered with flipbook only
-- each entry should be an animation, minimum 10 seconds in duration
In all, over 8 minutes of animation produced in this fashion.
p.s. if I owned Redshift, I'd probably gone that route instead since I'd like to learn it, but alas, that's not currently in the budget -- maybe next time

Day 25 Animation | Creatures | Buzz March 31, 2021, 11:58 p.m.
Partially fulfilled, but also complete in some ways.
