Houdini 16 - Flip Fluid Upresing ? Feb. 16, 2025, 10:13 a.m.
I'm digging up this old thread, since I was going through the masterclass and ran into a few issues.
The biggest one is when loading in the baked low resolution simulation.
The nodegraph for "cropping" the surface and velocity volume doesn't seem to function.
From what I can tell the fluid compress node is turning the volumes into VDBs, but then the Volume ReSize nodes only function on real volumes. I can step around this by converting the VDBs to volumes, but that doesn't seem to be needed in the demonstration.
I checked the supplied files, but am not seeing where the issues happen.
The next thing would be that when I use the resulting particle field in the DOP network as my source, it is not sourcing the velocities that I transferred to the source points.
I have tried to disable "Initialize velocities" but then I get the big waves at the front of the boundry.
In the provided file, it seems like "Initialize velocities" is enabled which would override the velocity that we copied over.
I guess I'm kind of confused by these things, as they seem conflicting, or that some functionality has changed.
Would be wonderful to have some guidance on this to know if I am just chasing issues that aren't issues, or are bugs.
