Husk Procedural hair example Sept. 3, 2024, 7:38 a.m.
goldleaf
Hair Procedural only supports velocity based blur in Houdini 19.5. The velocities authored on the guides gets transferred onto the deformed/generated hair. We hope to support multi-sampled blur in the future.
Slightly older thread now, has there been any progress on multi-sampled blur? is this a limitation of procedurals in general or just the hair procedural right now?
Separating BSDFs, of the same type, to different AOV April 3, 2024, 12:04 a.m.
Hey all, wondering if this is possible in Karma:
I have a shader comprised of two dielectric BSDFs. The results of each are appearing in the combinedglossyreflections AOV.
I would LOVE if I could make each of the BSDF contributions pipe in to separate custom AOVs.
Reading the docs, and looking at the premade rendervar for SSS, I see there is some support for "BSDF Labels". Admitedly this is a mantra page but I was just trying to get my head around LPE syntax https://www.sidefx.com/docs/houdini/render/lpe.html [www.sidefx.com] and it does say "This can be used to separate contributions from BSDFs that fall under the same broad event category, but have different labels." Which sounds like exactly what I wanted, but I havent been able to successfully stumble into any syntax that does what I want right now.
Do we have any control over what a BSDF label is? or any ability to inspect which BSDFs have which label? Am I down the wrong track entirely?
Appreciate any help!

Authoring anim layers _without_ subdivisionScheme attributes Sept. 14, 2022, 7:44 p.m.
Hey guys wondering if anyone has come across this:
I publish subdivisionSceheme as part of the lookdev layer on a global asset level. When animation's geo contribution comes over the top, it's coming with its own opinion on the subdivisionScheme. I cant figure out how to author the anim data without that property override. I can open published .usda, delete the subdivisionScheme override, then things layer up as I expect when I put the anim on top of the laid-out asset.
But is there a way to write this clean anim data straight out of solaris?
Appreciate any help!
Phil
