hello,
i am trying to render a scene with a simple pyrofx animation but unfortunately i only have 40Gb free on my C: drive (SSD) which is giving me a lot of problems in Houdini.
The file i'm working on is already saved on an external HDD that's why i don't understand this …
How can i tell Houdini to use another Hard drive for caching and temp files ?

Pyro FX - how to use bigger grids/resolution ? April 17, 2012, 10:51 a.m.
hello all,
i am playing around with the Pyro FX ‘Flames’ setting from the shelf. I have some nice flames going by using a simple 10x10 grid with 10x10 resolution and then clicking on the shelf ‘Flames’ item. What i would like to do is to make the area burning bigger but keeping the same details/resolution, so i want just a bigger area burning with the same kind of flames.
When i increase the grid size to 50x50 with 25x25 resolution the simulation doesn't work anymore, it seems to cook on the first frame for a bit but then jumps and runs through the timeline without showing any flames.
is there maybe a resolution limit for the apprentice version ? or my computer not fast enough ? or simply not possible ?
what am i missing ? how can i achieve this effect ?
