I have successfully used Alexey Vanzhula's DM tools(and Modeler as well)with the Apprentice version of Houdini.

There is a forum on discord.com(title is DMT). Here you can report bugs, discuss issues, see some video tuts and look at the gallery.

Try following the instructions in the attached file. If you have any questions please ask. Modeler works with all Houdini types including Apprentice.
