MacOS Sierra Nov. 27, 2016, 5:30 p.m.
Hey All
I've had a massive problem since upgrading my MacBook Pro to macOS Sierra. Firstly the license server failed to work when I ran Houdini 14.0 with the error "Cannot connect to the license server on .local". As Im only trying to run the Apprentice version, I figured it was time to just update to the latest Houdini 15.5.632. That installed fine however it is so slow its unusable. It takes a full minute to simply drop down a geometry object in a new scene, then another minute to go inside the new object, another minute to select the file node in there, another minute to put down a circle sop, and another minute to change the scale, etc etc etc.
These steps were instantaneous pre-Sierra so Im wondering if anyone else has similar problems or a way to fix it as there is no point trying to use Houdini when it is this slow. I haven't seen any negative effects with other software since the update, and even though its an older machine, I don't want to have to upgrade just to run an apprentice version of Houdini.
I've put the specs of my machine below but if anyone has any suggestions on how to get it back running the way it was before the os update that would be greatly appreciated!!!
Thanks
Steve
