In this tutorial, we will use the practical example of a procedural flower setup to talk about attribute manipulation, basics of procedural modeling, basics of KineFX, orientations, Vellum, Solaris, and rendering in Karma XPU.

The first video will start off with some basic concepts and is more thoroughly explained, attempting to make a foundation of knowledge for the student. It deals with the example of modeling, rigging, and animating one single flower petal. After the student has learned the base concepts, the pace increases as the flower setup expands the single petal into a fully procedural flower setup.

In the first three parts, we focus on creating the functionality of this setup. In the final part four, the student will learn how this setup can be used to model a flower from reference and in a fun and art directable manner create different flower shapes that are fully animated and ready to be rendered. At the very end, the student will import the setup to Solaris and learn some basic concepts working with shading and lookdev to finally render with Karma XPU.

I like the result, but the way we get there like "copy what you see and trust the process", I think as a beginner's tutorial it should explain stuff on why some things are done to make people think about the meaning behind the things that are done to use those on other contexts.

Hi! Thank you for the feedback. I think you are absolutely correct so I have labeled the tutorial series as intermediate moving forward. I think this series ended up being a little bit more like a cookbook recipe and less of a fundamental explainer than I had hoped. I will certainly work on that for future beginner tutorials.

Thanks for the feedback! I think you are right so I have changed the label to intermediate rather than beginner. I'll certainly take this into account for future beginner tutorials.

      Good luck on your journey!

Thank you for the feedback! I agree, this series ended up being a bit more of a cookbook recipe than a fundamental explainer. I still think it has value for intermediate users who already have a solid understanding of Houdini and its concepts so I have labeled it intermediate instead of beginner. I'll take this into account for the future when making beginner tutorials.
