Games Baker ROP
The Games Baker ROP is a simplified interface for the Bake Texture ROP.
Simplified UI
We handle all the minutia to get the baking to work, material assignments, cameras, etc, just tell us what 2 models to use and what maps you want.
Bake SOP level nodes, not only OBJ level
No need to make an empty OBJ with a simple ObjMerge node inside of it
Clean up after itself
No temporary files are left over (.rat/_C), it only keeps the files you requested
Easily bake arbitrary point attributes
Simply choose the attribute name and suffix and we handle the rest
You can download find it on our Github Development Branch

Hello, thanks for the explanation and the effort you're putting into game dev field!
I have installed the last game dev tool from github, but I can't find both this Rop node introduced in the video and the make_loop Sop showed @GDC.
Where can I download them from? Thanks

ah! I didn't notice the download location is written in the introduction! :D
but how about the make_loop Sop? Where can I find it?

Hey Andr1
The Make_Loop SOP is part of the games toolshelf in Houdini 16.
You can learn how to enable it in this quick video https://vimeo.com/200071180

Please keep all the games stuff coming!!

Thanks Luiz for all the work you're putting into this. The lack of an easy texture backing method in Houdini has bothered me for quite some time. Will definatelly check this one out, looks very promising.
Cheers.

AOA bro
can i use this for procedural baking of texture maps right in UE4 or unity, every time after changing my my procedural mesh's shape by changing parameter in UE4 or unity?
will it also work in ue and unity if some how i attach with this with my HDA? will it bake texture autometically?

It's all blank 256 exports for me despite setting the resolution to 2k/4k etc. Any ideas? Thanks.

As I sent you a msg on facebook, this is fantastic man, thanks a lot for making it.

Hi there, this is a great addition! Am i missing something or is there no baking for the high res's texture?
I can do it in the old bake texture node but not, it seems, in this one... cheers
keep up the great work!

Hi and thanks for the hard job! Amazing thing so far.
Is there any chance that the baker isn't working properly with the new version 18 of Houdini? I'm using it to bake BaseColor and it gives an error. The actual error I'm getting is from the Shell5 node and it is:
Error
Python error: Traceback (most recent call last):
File "", line 1, in
File "opdef:/labs::Driver/games_baker::2.0?PythonModule", line 20, in set_current_mesh
AttributeError: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'path'
Thanks!

Actually, I have found the answer. It needs both LOW and HIGH poly reference paths, otherwise it's not working. In my case, I don't have a Highpoly, since I'm just exporting the basecolor from my water flowmap geometry.
Keep up the good work!

is it Possible to bake UDIMs with this tool and How is the information for the Diffuse, Matelness & Rouhness map is getting generated?

I want to Bake down Complex Shader Networks into Gameready Texture and the simple Bake can not handle this. If I try to bake those Shaders down, my Color maps are all empty

I've found Redshift prevents it from baking. Remove redshift from .env and works fine?
