This two hour video goes through the basic workflow of creating terrains in H17. After explaining my basic workflow we spend a bulk of time discussing the new erosion model and how to utilize its parameters.

Great tutorial Ari - I am at the first half hour.
Did you mean to smooth the entire terrain (@height) @35.20 or should it only have been the mask (@mask)?

I meant by mask but in truth I really love the fact that in H17 terrain and erosion feel really like a painters tool. Pick the paint brush (Heightfield Operator) and draw your terrain. I guess what I am saying if it looks good then it is good :)

Great tutorial first, but is there any way to texture the heightfield without transforming it to a geometry. i packed my heightfield to unreal engine with the HDA package, but i can not retrieve my mask info in unreal engine. And i want to know if there is any workflow more prevalent.....actually i have not find any good solution and tutorials
    for this right now.

Thanks for the masterclass! is it possible to get the gale crater dem file that you converted to a png? Not sure how to do that and I can't open the geotiff in photoshop. Any info on that part of the process would be amazing. ty!
