I was wondering, is there a way to export .exr files from pro render? So far I could only get .rpr and. json and dont really know, what to do with them, I am doing something wrong?

To render out files you will need a few nodes:

1 - You will need to have a USD camera.
2 - You will then need a rendersettings node.
3 - You will need a USDRenderROP Node.

You will need to set the renderer in the USDRenderROP to the RPR.
You will need to reference the render settings under render settings.
Set it to render a specific frame range under "Valid frame range"
You can then specify a file name under Override output image.

the name format should be like this $HIP/render/$HIPNAME.$OS.$F4.exr
This should work with other extensions like .tga .png .jpg

That Should be the basic setup although it can be a bit fiddly to set up.

Hi, I can find a similar tutorial for Mac OSX, is there one ?

      Sorry I mean cannot...

As a total newbie and Mac OS X user, that was really not so clear how to get this to work, after quite a long search an tweaks, I finally find out how to get this done.

In case some newbies like me are searching as well, this .json file needs to be installed as follow:

      1. Go to: ~/Library/Preferences/houdini/19.5 –- or any other compatible version
      2. create a new folder: 'packages'
      3. Drop the RPR.json file created in it

So the final install path would be such like: ~/Library/Preferences/houdini/19.x/packages/RPR.json

      4. Note that the material library should be installed from here: https://github.com/GPUOpen-LibrariesAndSDKs/RadeonProRenderUSD#rpr-material-library

      5. Launch Houdini, Go to menu: Desktop > 'Solaris' and set the Renderer to RPR — or — from with the startup 'Build' Desktop go to /stage instead of /obj in the Network view panel… This series of quick tutorials is help to get the basics https://youtu.be/8NL43Doo65c

However, I am really disappointed with the speed... It's so laggy, why is that so slow to preview in RPR, is there any settings to get a faster preview ? I'm using an iMacPro with Radeon Pro Vega 64X 16 Go. Should be enough for simples scenes, no ?

      Thanks !
