Learn how to set up the main pathway tool of GROT. This tool will mainly involve the instancing of rocks around an input shape. An artist can block out pathway shapes with simple modelling or cubes and this tool will get the shape and place the rocks on top and add cliffs.

Overview of the Pathway tool. Learn what to expect from the tutorial series.
Start simple by scattering some rocks on top of a surface. The more interesting part is that you will make this into a digital asset and open this in Unreal. This way the tool can already be used as you iterate on it. Session sync will be used to improve the tool while linked to Unreal to get fast feedback.
Now that you have a basic rock, you want to add a specific border around the shape. This is to make sure that the border and middle rocks don’t have gaps and you always fill them with rock shapes.
With the top layer of rocks done, it is time to create cliff or side rocks. This will make it feel more like a platform or pathway.
The finishing touch is to scatter smaller rocks over the pathway. The scatter and align node will do most of the work here. It is a great node and you will see use cases on how it can be used to spawn larger and smaller rocks.
