Learn how to create a Fence tool using input curves to define the fence inside the Unreal game editor. The output of the fence will use a combination of geometry and instances. The corners are newly created geometry designed to work with different angles.
Project Titan is an in-house tech demo designed to production test Houdini's procedural workflows while creating a 3D environment that leverages the latest technologies in Unreal. Click Here to learn more.
A quick overview of all the different parts of the fence tool lesson. Take a look at where you are headed with this lesson.
Learn how to place models on a curve. The first steps will be creating a curve and finding how to place models correctly. The setup uses instancing of the models on the curve for later steps.
Learn how to create the corners. The corners of the fence are new geometry that is generated as you build the fence. This makes sure that many angles are possible when using this tool. There are a couple things needed to make sure the orientation is correct.
Learn how to make a digital asset out of the node network. This will create a single node that can be used to generate the fences. You will also build a custom interface with parameters so you can control the results at the top level.
Learn how to open and use the fence tool in Unreal Engine. To use the tool in Unreal, you need to define an input curve. After that the tool will generate the fence and with a couple more tweaks you can automatically set materials and instances.

I can't understand the chain node

Simon gives a good insight into the chain node in this video and provides more detail on how to use it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IwnbJIOSjxQ and might help you learn more about it.

Thank you very much.

Neither does the hda file nor the tutorial work on my 19.5.493 for some reason. it creates multiple copies of the model that are placed along the curve/edges. I saw other people commenting on how the corners do not work anymore...

And i use your hda file. Corner could not be generated successfully

Great series of tutorials! Is there any insight on how you would create UE4 simplified collisions (UCX) with a procedural workflow like this?

If an object along the curve has a x-size greater than 2, it will not scale properly and will overlap. Why?
