Ever wonder how to get an ethereal disintegration effect in a realtime-rendered game?

There are quite a few methods now, especially with Unreal's new Niagara system, but it's hard to ever use anything to get VFX to look as good as they do in Houdini. Luckily, with the GameDevToolset, it's easy to get the exact look you want into Unreal (or Unity or Lumberyard or what have you).

The big secret is that the RBDtoFBX ROP translates the primIntrinsic transform matrices into joint transforms in a trivial hierarchy in the FBX format.  If what I just said made absolutely no sense to you, then you definitely gotta watch the above video if you ever want to export your effect!

Nathan of Eigenverse does the bulk of this tutorial, teaching you how to properly explode a pig face and get it into an FBX.  Samson of Eigenverse swoops in to teach you how to manipulate primIntrinsics using Vex so you can take your pigsplosions to the next level.  Keep your eye out for the Eigenverse logo for many more realtime VFX tutorials.
