This tool allows you to calculate the current texel density of an asset per primitive based on the asset and project resolution. It also allows you to automatically scale all UVs to comply with the settings of the tool. Ensuring correct texel density of an asset makes sure your scene has a uniform level of detail in the materials, and helps optimizing a project by finding assets with textures that are too high resolution.

    Hi thanks for the tutorial!
    I'm trying to use the labs texel density tool and it seems that I can't get passed the (uvlayout1 > Packing) if I use" scale Uvs to match texel density"
    It works as long the the uvs can enter my UDIM1001 if it goes out of this udim I'm stucked in a infinite loop (it's simply never load)

    using : 18.5.351 toolset : 351-embedded

    Am I doing anything wrong ?

    Thanks!

      Try updating the Labs tools to a newer version, I remember sometime ago that the uv layout had that issue before. Or you have to update to a newer Houdini version.
      You can also submit this as bug and support will look into it.

    hello~ this is very useful tutorial.
    I use this node to check texel density in unreal engine.(Hda). But when i change "AssetResoultion", uv size is quite different from Houdini.
    I use plane mesh for test. uv doesn't decrease to 4/1 - AssetResolution :1024x1024 , ProjcetResolution:256x256)
    Is it works with unreal engine?
