In this tutorial, you will learn how to use Houdini to create a tornado with VEX. You will learn how to use quaternion to control direction of velocity and how to use attributes to create velocity and density fields for Pyro FX in Houdini.

Hey i read you comment and have to say you wrong. A Tornado starts from top and ground. They hit often together in the middle.. In fact A tornado is alive even when you dont see something. The tornado is only visible if the tornado is able to "eat" dust.... But when it had rained alot before the tornado hit, then it takes alot of time until you really see a tornado even its there and deadly..

Why need Quaternions, can't we just use Houdini Velocity Vortex fields?
As far as i know Quaternions are used for solids rotation like rigid body dynamics.?
    Thanks.
