This is cool new feature added in H18 IIRC?
You can disable it by by clicking on the cam icon in the middle above the viewport. See screenshot below.

I think you mis understand my problem, when you change the fov it is forced to be there. ctrl + right click changes the fov, then the screen windows is automatically turned on. In default settings it does turn off the screen window, but if you alter the fov as I mentioned above, it is forced on.

Ah alright, yeah that makes sense. My bad.
Could be an interaction the devs didn't plan for.
For now you can create a camera, edit its FOV and lock the view to the camera.

Hey guys,
This “screen window” feature is something that really annoys me. I'm constantly switching back and forth from viewing my geometry through a camera to freely moving around in the perspective viewport.
Every time I switch, the screen window appears.
Is there a way to permanently disable this feature?
