edit: I meant to put this in the solaris forum
Hello, anyone had issues with the light linker in solaris? It seems after adding lighting linking that the light linking is "forgotten" randomly (while using karma viewport) when placing new nodes or changing settings on other lop nodes. Look at my light linking settings. I have two dome lights. One is for the environment and one is for the hero. I have the "hero" light only affecting the hero and I disabled the hero from the the main dome light. Take a look at my video. The scene is too bright because my light linking isn't taking effect and both domes are affecting the whole scene. So I refresh the ipr and it is working. As I stated before adding a new node or changing a lop node's settings will randomly (as in not all the time) cause the renderer to "forget" about the lighting linking and the scene becomes too bright again. So I have to hit refresh again. I have had a few sessions where it only did this like once. Most of the time though this is annoying because sometimes it results in having to hit restart render every second. I tried rendering to disk and it worked fine there. any thoughts?
edit2: if I add more geometry to the scene the light link completely breaks and the new geometry doesn't receive lighting properly unless I remake the link.
edit3: I only have these issues on xpu.

I'm experiencing the same issue with light linker and XPU, sadly no one has replied to this post since it was posted :[

Yes, I experienced the same.

Tends to break easily when changing things in the node tree.

Randomly not rendering linked lights as well.

I noticed it is more stable in houdini 20 (than 19.5).
Thanks,

Hi guys

thanks for the feedback.
Is it possible you could file a bug with an example scene + exact repro steps?
With that, we can get this fixed

thanks

Hey Brian, I found this post while searching to see if anyone else is running into this issue. I have a simple scene that I will package up and submit this week. Not limited to XPU - appears to be a general Karma bug.

Hey Brian,

I filed a bug report for this with a scene file and example video. Bug 133880. Hope it helps!

I experience the same thing. I find the light linker not very usable. What other methods do people use?

Yeah, the lightlinker has been flaky since the beginning. Hope it gets fixed soon.
