Question for the staff - how can I save the new settings for snapping? Every time I open Houdini I change these settings. Midpoint, attraction. Every time. A thousand times. And they are not saved in any way. But somewhere in the files are defaults stored? Please tell me where they are stored and I will change them directly in the file.

It still seems to be impossible.

I'm shocked, of course. 18 years of ignoring basic amenities and user requests... I definitely won’t live to see the correction.

That along with a radial menu instead of transient hotkeys makes working with snapping in H a sheer frustrating experience.

Ouch. As a new user about two years ago I also submitted an RFE for this. I didn't realise it had been requested so long ago. That hurts.

Man I didn't expect I'll see a thread from 2006 when I clicked this.

I've just filed another RFE for this pointing out the first request was made eighteen years ago, politely asking if it could be bumped up the priority list : )

I'm hoping embarrassment might result in some action. Hope springs eternal.

Edit: RFE 139371 in case anyone wants to cross reference it.

While not having something basic like this out-of-the-box definitely sucks, you could possibly work around it with a macro app like Autohotkey on Windows or Keyboard Maestro on Mac or xdo on Linux. That's generally what I do for apps that stubbornly don't add convenience features that I could use.

Definitely not an ideal state, but sometimes you just gotta get shit done without waiting 18 years for it to (not) happen.

Does the Handle Dialog options (translate/angle/scale step) have any option to save the prefs? I can't find any. Seems like this is in the same boat with snapping options.
